Saranya Subramani obtained her Master Degree in Genomics from Madurai Kamaraj University, India. She did her master thesis in the group of Prof. P. Gunasekaran characterizing antibacterial proteins of metagenome origin. She then joined as Research Fellow at Membrane Protein Structural Biology Group at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, India. She worked with Dr. Arulandu Arockiasamy on structural studies of Metal Ion Transporters from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In 2011 she started her PhD in Membrane Transporter Group of Dr. Jens Preben Morth at the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM), University of Oslo, Norway. Her main research projects are focused on the structural and functional characterization of metal ion transporters from intracellular bacterial pathogens.
